Above Ground Pool Lights

What choice of lighting for the pool area?

Here, we do not speak only of decorative lighting, but it is indeed safety. Indeed, the installation at regular intervals of small recessed spots of soil all around the pool, in the masonry or the deck, will not only add an undeniable aesthetic aspect, but especially this lighting will delimit very effectively the edges of above ground pool light reviews the basin by reducing strongly the risk of falling in poor visibility (at night or in the evening).

This lighting system having both a safety and decorative function, will therefore most often be implanted in volume 1, so IP65 or IP67 and with a very low voltage safety supply. It must be checked before the purchase that these spots are in class III.

These small diameter spots are usually sold in batches and are connected to a safety transformer that provides them with the very low voltage regulation. We must focus on LED technology that brings only benefits for this type of application: very low power consumption, little heat release to achieve very high levels of tightness, many colors of light available.

Some of these spots are available with a waterproof plug-and-play connectivity system. Each component has a small waterproof plug that is very easy to use. The various extension cables and dividing cables make it easy to build a superb lighting network: embedded in the wood or composite of the terrace, the deck, or directly in the masonry with the possible addition of a mounting box.

The simplicity of installation should not overshadow the safety and in particular the standards applicable to electrical devices near swimming pools. Remember that the safety transformer must be placed outside volumes 0, 1 and 2, inside a box provided for this purpose.

The lighting may be in other forms, such as light pavers or recessed spots of soil of larger diameter.

The lighting

We find the traditional recessed downlight, in LED version for all the reasons stated above. Attention, a spot too powerful will dazzle a person walking in the immediate vicinity, which can be dangerous if this spot is near the edge of the pool. In this case, a modest light output (200 lumens maximum) and a wide beam of light should be preferred. On the other hand, recessed floors placed at the foot of a wall or wall will be able to display a significant power and a more directional beam, thus providing an appreciable complement of light and a superb architectural lighting effect.

Spotlights on post or with mounting bracket, will complement the lighting around the pool. It seems very important to repeat ourselves: if they are inside volume 1, they can not be connected directly to 230 volts. In this case, it is necessary to provide class III luminaires.

At the slightest doubt, do not hesitate to take the advice of a professional. In general, any electrical installation and especially near a pool, must be done by a professional, according to the rules of the art
